We have our own training academy ATAK (Aramark talent academy). Here we train culinary professionals as well as restaurant managers. Our cooks can improve their skills in quick cooking, foreign cuisines and classical Czech cuisine. Our managerial courses focus on the proper ways to run a restaurant, human resources management and communication with customers. So far, 362 employees have been trained in our academy. Furthermore, we offer the possibility of internships abroad. Our cooks and managers can choose an exchange stay e.g. in Germany or Great Britain.
We also think about new employees, who are enrolled in an training program to bring them up to speed. This makes it easier for them to find their way in the company and get involved in the operation of the company as fast as possible. As a part of this project, we have shot our own videos, which provide essential information about the company in just a few minutes. To make new employees feel at home, we have prepared a guidebook called Welcome at Aramark.
Employees can choose from training in soft, technical and operational skills and IT training. These courses are fine-tuned to match the varied needs of our team. Everyone from restaurant managers and cooks to accountants and employees at the serving counter can find something for him or herself thanks to the wide range of courses on offer. Moreover, we hold company-wide conferences for restaurant managers twice a year. Here the participants learn mainly about what new things are planned to be introduced. Once a year, also chefs take part in this conference. About 150 employees per year take part in these out-of-town training events. Different sub-training events targeted at different fields according to current needs are held at all departments during the conference. Fresh news is further education offered to cooks in the fields of foreign cuisine, cold cuisine and meat processing.
The 5k motivation programme
The 5k motivation programme rewards the small successes of our employees, namely great quality and exemplary conduct with the customers – our employees can get such awards on a daily basis.
Every three months we choose the three best employees who were instrumental in achieving an extraordinary success, who helped the company, did some extra work or have been performing above average over the long term. Every year we announce an employee of the year in several categories. Nominations are filed by direct superiors, so everybody has the chance to get to the spotlight.
We have set up a long-term bonus system, which recognizes absolutely all employees and specific restaurants for great quality, customer approach, honesty and fulfilment of financial indicators – all this fairly and according to their concrete merits.
This international programme is an award for the best employees who take care of the customers all around the world every day. Candidates are nominated from all branches of the company, which now operates in 28 countries and has more than 270,000 employees. The programme recognizes mainly extra performance, loyalty and enthusiasm. Also employees of Czech Aramark have the chance to be among the 200 awarded from all over the world and thus become true service provision stars. The “Aramark Ring of Stars” gala ceremonial annually takes place directly in the US and the winners get their awards directly from the company’s president Eric Foss as a part of a week-long stay for them and their partner in the US, which is covered by the company.
